FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF VEHICLE INSPECTION SERVICES:
(a) inspection, control and enforcement of road worthiness of vehicles in the State;
(b) pre-registration inspection of vehicles in the State;
(c) co-operating with other agencies to enforce road traffic rules and regulations;
(d) inspection and issuance of 12 Months validity Road Worthiness Certificate (RWC) to all private vehicles and 6 Months validity Road Worthiness Certificate (RWC) to all Commercial in the state,
(e) ensuring that Vehicles in the State are roadworthy at all times;
(f) training and testing of applicants for Driver’s License (New and Renewal);
(g) training and testing of applicants for Rider’s Licence (New and Renewal).
(h) setting out conditions to be met by driver licence applicants/ rider’s licence applicants from time to time.
(i) issuance of Rider’s licence to owners and users of Motorcycles and Tricycles;
(j) setting out Law for the establishment, approval and operation of Driving School in the State;
(k) removal of Motorcycles, Tricycles, Motor vehicles, Trucks Trailers and any other forms of vehicle abandoned along the highways across the State;
(l) carrying out inspection and issuing report on all accident vehicles in the State;
(m) keeping statutory registers and database of all certificates issued and revoked; and
(n) enforcement of road taxes on all routes in the State.
