Application process and Guidelines for vehicle inspection

In pursuant of Ondo State Road Traffic Law (Ondo State Laws, 2006), vehicle owners are instructed to take their vehicles for inspection and obtain road worthiness certificate after the vehicle is deemed roadworthy immediately after the inspection. The vehicle inspection process is as follows:

RELEVANT MDAs TO INTERACT WITH:

STAGE 1:

Vehicle owners are to visit any of the following government-owned and authorized vehicle testing centres in the State with their vehicle for examination between 8:00am to 5:00pm (Monday – Friday, excluding public holidays).

(i)        Akure – Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO), Opposite Omolere Nur/Pry School, along Ijapo road, Akure.

(ii)         Owo       Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO), Emure Ile Road, Owo

(iii)         Ondo    Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO), Oka Road, Ondo Town

STAGE 2:

INSPECTION PROCEDURE AND PAYMENT PROCESSING

·       Upon arrival at the Vehicle Inspection Center, the vehicle owners will present their vehicle documents in order to obtain details of the vehicle to be inspected. Please note that if the Vehicle Documents are expired, it does not affect the process for inspection of the vehicle and issuance of Road Worthiness Certificate.

·       Payment for the vehicle inspection is made immediately at the Vehicle Inspection Centre in accordance with the applicable rates see the approved list of fees here .

·       All payments for Vehicle Inspection and Road Worthiness are made at the Vehicle Testing Centers listed in STAGE 1. No interaction with any other MDAs

·       The Vehicle Inspection Report and Road Worthiness Certificate issued serves as evidence of payment.

STAGE 3:

·       After payment is made, the vehicle owners proceed to get their vehicles inspected/tested.

·       The inspection/Testing or vehicle will take about 30-45 minutes.

 

STAGE 4:

Upon completion of the test, vehicles that passed the inspection test will be issued a PASSED Inspection Report and a Certificate of Road Worthiness within 24 hours.

 

 

If the vehicle fails the inspection exercise, the vehicle will be issued a FAILED Inspection Report within 24 hours and the vehicle owner advised to make required repairs as stated in the Inspection Report.

 

 

After the required repair is made, the vehicle owner can come for a re-test/re- inspection at no cost within 30 days from the date on the Inspection report.

 

 

If the vehicle owner fail to come back for re-test/re-inspection within the 30 days period from the date on the first inspection report, another inspection fee shall be paid.
